PROJECTS & REDEVELOPMENT
The Ridgway Industrial Development Corporation and Ridgway Area Industrial Development (Ridgway AID) lead and support redevelopment initiatives that strengthen Ridgway’s economy and position the community for long-term growth. Our projects focus on practical outcomes - supporting jobs, enabling housing, improving infrastructure, and activating underutilized land.
This work is intentionally phased, allowing us to move forward on priority projects while preparing for future opportunities as funding and partnerships align.
Housing-Enabling Projects
Housing availability remains a critical factor in workforce attraction and retention. While RIDC and Ridgway AID are not residential developers, we focus on enabling projects that make housing development feasible.
These efforts may include:
Site preparation and infrastructure coordination
Redevelopment of underutilized or vacant properties
Partnerships that support market-rate housing development
Trail-Oriented Commercial Sites
As trail networks expand, opportunities emerge for trail-adjacent commercial activity. RIDC and Ridgway AID are exploring sites suitable for small-scale commercial uses that support trail users, outdoor recreation, and tourism-driven businesses.
These projects align with regional recreation strategies and help diversify the local economy.
Redevelopment is not an abstract exercise. Each project is evaluated based on its ability to deliver tangible community benefits.
Job Creation and Retention | Redevelopment projects help retain existing employers, attract new businesses, and create jobs that support working families.
Housing and Workforce Stability | Infrastructure and site readiness play a critical role in enabling housing development and supporting a stable workforce.
Expanding the Tax Base | Reactivating underutilized properties strengthens the local tax base and supports municipal services.
Demographic Sustainability | By supporting employment, housing, and quality of life, redevelopment efforts help attract and retain residents in the 25–44 age demographic critical to long-term community vitality.
